Creatures on the road

I continue to bike ride while in Marathon and come across various creatures on the road, including the Vinagaroon, Tarantula, and Scorpion. The Vinagaroon does not have a stinger, but sprays acetic acid or vinegar when agitated. It can also pinch, and without the tail is about 4 inches long.

What is the beautiful blue, purple, and orange building?!? Didn't see that when I was there for a few days in the spring of 2001 (after 'totaling' my car coming out of Big Bend). The people there (Marathon) were just as you described them - very friendly and helpful! No bus or train stopped there then so I had no idea how I'd ever get out of town and back home until a lady shopkeeper, who had listened to my plight, called her husband from the shop and arranged for him to drive me to Alpine within the hour where I could catch the bus.
